Understanding the Index Scores
Turning Employee Feedback Into Actionable Insights
The Index scores below reflect feedback from NYFRS employees across key areas, organised into three core dimensions: Stress and Wellbeing, Leadership and Engagement, and Culture, Belonging, and Equity.
Each dimension provides a focused lens to understand the key aspects of workplace culture and employee experiences, helping you pinpoint strengths and areas for improvement.
Index scores range from 0 to 100, where higher values represent more positive outcomes. For example, higher scores on indexes such as Job Demands, Job Control, Manager Support, Peer Support, Work Relationships, Work Role, and Change reflect healthier, less stressful work environments with more substantial organisational support.
The Advocacy Index, based on the Net Promoter Score, ranges from -100 to +100. A higher Advocacy score indicates that employees are more likely to recommend NYFRS as a great place to work, reflecting their overall trust and satisfaction.
These standardised scores allow for comparisons across departments, demographic groups, and organisational benchmarks, providing actionable insights to support decision-making and foster meaningful cultural change.
Stress and Wellbeing
Understanding Employee Wellbeing and the Work Environment
The Stress and Wellbeing dimension provides insights into the mental health and resilience of NYFRS employees. By combining the Psychological Wellbeing Index, based on the WHO 5-Wellbeing Scale, with a series of indexes derived from the HSE Stress Demands Indicator Tool, this dimension evaluates key factors such as workload, job control, support from managers and peers, relationships, role clarity, and change management. These insights help identify opportunities to reduce workplace stress and foster a healthier, more supportive environment for all employees.
